We put our Vegas vacation on hold, and have a up to one year to use our flight voucher's. So instead of just sitting home we went up to Pine Mountain Lake click {HERE}. My grandparents have owned a cabin up there since 1989. I have so many childhood memeories in this cabin, its so fun watching my kids play outside and make memories there as well.
We rented a boat one of the days and took the kids fishing. The lake has changed so much, insead of old wooden docks, they now have these giant trampoline like docks. We brought our dog up with us and she was really well behaived. The weather was perfect, low to mid 80's and at night it would cool really down low.
The second day we drove about 35 minutes to a town called Columbia. Click {HERE} to learn about this historic town. It was a Gold Rush mining town, circa 1857. It looks alot like it did back in the 1800's!
We walked through the museums, panned for gold, had lunch in one of the old restaurants, and just walked around looking at the old buildings. One of my personal favorites was the old Jail, and the old miner's cabins. We also went into the candy store, which as a child we would always get a jaw breaker from there, oh the memories! This time I settled with some gourmet chocolate covered peanuts. We usually always see plenty of deer in Pine Mountain Lake, there was a very pregnant deer alongside were two other deer. David thinks they were her babies from last season, The dog was so interested in these. She didnt bark, just stared in silence as they were out of her reach.
