Anyone who knows me, and knows me well knows that Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. For as long as I can remember this has been my favorite. Most people would assume Valentines Day, Or Christmas... Nope! Fourth of July takes the win! I love Summer time, I love the month of July, I love anything patriotic, I love fireworks, I love that our Country is free!
This year was celebrated a week long. Starting June 30, I was at Shoreline for Celebrate American, honoring troops, songs, activities for the kids, fireworks, and a lot of Gold Star families. Gold stars are the parents who have lost a son or daughter in the line of duty. Very sad. I was honored to hear some stories and meet a few of the moms. They loved hearing about David's deployments (I wore my USMC hat to represent) and that he is now in law enforcement. One of the mothers lost her son in Iraq April 2004, David was there the same time. The morning of July 4th, David had to sleep since he worked that evening so I took the kids to a parade in Morgan Hill. One of my friends joined us and it was a lot of fun!
We then joined my sister in law and their family to swim and BBQ. The kids were set in water wings and float rings. The weather felt perfect, the water was warm. That evening Some of my family came over to light fireworks and have dessert. Since I didn't have 4th of July pj's Macoy wore some Christmas ones that I had in his closet, hey they were Red, White... and Stripes! Enjoy!
