For those who follow know me personally know my love for fresh produce from my own yard. When we lived in a two bedroom town house with no yard, we compromised and planted in our front yard. Once we bought our first home last February (2010) we scoped our yard out to see where the sun hits the most for the longest periods of time. The previous owners of our house did a wonderful job with landscaping and planting beautiful flowers. We gave it our own touch last year, you can see my blog post from last Spring {here}. This yard we did a few things different. As for our garden we have planted (produce: Oregano, Raspberries, Corn, Tomato's (5 types, Celebrity, Sweet 100's, Beefsteaks, Heirloom, Roma) , Long Yellow Squash, Crookneck Squash, Zucchini Squash, Cucumber, Watermelon, Cilantro, Green Onions, Chives, Sweet Basil, Strawberries, !and lastly our Grape Vines(2 types of grapes from last year maturing). We also removed our dwarf Orange tree from a pot and transferred it to the soil, and since then we have orange blossoms
I'm looking forward to letting friends and family browse through our yard again. One of my sister in laws {Lauren} was one i loved to hand off extra tomato's, and basil to last year and this year she has a nice garden of her own, so I'm sure we'll trade off produce ;)
My dad and I usually compete to who has the first planting, and first harvest... he beat me to the planting, but we'll see who has the first harvest!
Here are some pictures of my yard this morning....
