Nicole's first trip to the ER.

On Thursday night November 5, David and I were having dinner at my parents house. My mom and dad had watched Nicole that day and asked if we just wanted to eat over. We said sure. Around 7:00pm we put Nicole down for the night in her crib at my parents house and closed the door. She wasn't ready to sleep we could hear her talking and I hadn't really seen her that day so I let the night time routine slide and got her out of bed. She was doing her normal laps around the house and playing. Well, we just settle in with coffee and fresh cookies when we hear ":::THUD:::" She slips often on the tile and hardwood floors and David usually says "Colie your okay" and helps her up. This time was different. Her cry was different. When David went to help her up he goes "Oh Crap...Oh Crap". Now that is usually no big deal, but when it comes from David I could tell from his tone that something was wrong, I walk over and see blood on the floor... I look at David he has blood all over his hands... Nicole's face has blood running down it... I instantly start crying running to the freezer to get whatever I possibly could. We didn't know how bad it was yet, but we knew we had to get her to the emergency room. She hit the wall corner where two walls met and it makes this edge. I grab my keys, Davids holding pressure and ice on Colie's head. My mom grabs my keys because only God knows how my driving would have been. The whole way to the hospital was horrifying, the cry of my baby, me being helpless other than comfort her telling her she would be okay. Still David was calm. I'm glad he is. We get her checked in... there is a waiting room full of people. Since Nicole was still conscious they said we would have to wait our turn. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! Do they not see a bleeding baby with a head injury!!!!!!" That's what I was saying to Dave and my mom loud enough for everyone to hear... I'm sorry but people sitting there with just a broken finger... not even in pain could wait. I know no one person is more important than another, but Nicole was screaming in pain, and crying and crying and crying... As soon as we would get her to calm down we would slightly move the pressure rag on her head and the wound would start bleeding again and she was in pain. They checked her vitals and sent us back to wait. FINALLY after almost 2 hours we got her in to the doctor. They started to strap her into this papoose thing that would keep her restrained except her arms.. Dave and I were in there with her... As Nicole cried louder and harder, I was on my way too.. David kindly told me to wait outside the room while they stitched her up. Watching from outside the room wasn't that hard. I got a picture of her and David from the hallway right after her stitches. It was now 10:50pm and Jesse Smith was coming on to his shift. Hes so sweet, he brought David and I coffee and Nicole a little teddy bear with "Lucky" written on it. We call it her Jesse Bear. She'll be "Lucky" next time to not fall now that she has her Lucky Jesse Bear. We feel very blessed that Nicole only had a minor injury. We want to thank everyone for your prayers. We know God kept Colie very safe. David was such a great dad. Thanks mom for driving us there and waiting while we were a mess. Thank you God for our precious baby.

On our way home.. with her new Jesse Bear
She did not let this bear go the whole ride home, and when we put her to sleep she kept it close.
